What is Merino Wool?

Merino wool is a natural fibre grown by the Merino sheep. It is thinner and softer than regular wool—making it easy to wear next to skin. 

The merino sheep is one of the most ancient breeds of sheep and since they were introduced to the New Zealand Alps in the 1840's they have flourished in the rugged terrain and harsh climate.  

In the Alps, where winter is -30 and summer is -10, nature has engineered the merino sheep's fleece to be incredibly intelligent and reactive to the seasons. During summer the fleece keeps them cool and when the winter comes the merino grows a new layer of wool over their base coat to protect them to keep them super warm. I

Merino is super soft, non-itchy, non-clammy, warm in the cold and cool in the heat,  and has a miraculous ability to resist odour. Because it was made in the mountains rather than in a petrochemical laboratory and it is naturally renewable, recyclable and biodegradable.
